Abbeville - Georgia

Abbeville Georgia is a small city in the county of Wilcox in the State of Georgia. This town was actually the setting for the battle of Breakfast Creek. In fact, there was a Confederate monument erected in front of the Wilcox County Courthouse to commemorate the battle. This courthouse was built in 1903, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. There are about 2,298 people living in the city according to the 2000 census.

Abbeville Georgia is often called “the Wild Hog Capital of Georgia” for the huge population of wild hogs it boasts. In fact, the “Ocmulgee Wild Hog Festival” is held every year for this very reason. This festival includes arts, crafts, food, entertainment, and contests. The Ocmulgee River is located just inside the city limits, and makes fishing, camping, and boating a delight in this small Georgia city. As far as wildlife, it is a known fact that Abbeville Georgia is home to plenty of deer, quail, and wild Turkey, in addition to other types of wildlife.
